Nunes’ Weekly is the work of Rhode Island-based journalist Alex Nunes, whose inspiration for the website comes from I.F Stone’s Weekly, published independently by the legendary muckraking reporter from 1953 to 1971.
Nunes’ Weekly is founded on the belief that journalists should not wait for official sources, whether in government or business, to tell them what is and isn’t news. They should dig into the documents, data, testimony—the hidden facts—and bring the findings forth to the public. They should name names, tell it like it is, and ask the questions people in power don’t want to hear and certainly don’t want to answer.
The website will not be able to cover every topic, but the ones it does cover will be important. At least one story will be published each week, covering an issue either overlooked by mainstream news sources in New England (the Weekly’s coverage area), or an angle not explored by other media.
